Finck, Kinnaman Place High in Divisions at Marathon

BOSTON — Leatrice S. Finck of West Stockbridge finished 41st in her division at Monday's Boston Marathon.

Finck, 60, ran a time of 4 hours, 1 minute, 44 seconds over the 26.2-mile course at the world's oldest marathon. There were 358 women aged 60 to 64 competing in the race.

The top time among Berkshire County finishers at the event was 2:59:01, turned in by Lanesborough's Logan Wilson, 21, who finished 1,312th overall and 961st in his age group.

Lemi Berhanu Hayle and Atsede Baysa of Ethiopia won the individual titles, finishing in 2:12:45 and 2:29:19, respectively.

The Boston Athletic Association reports that 27,487 runners started the race. Nearly 97 percent of that number finished.

The county's second highest finisher by division was Lee's Matt Kinnaman, 55, who placed 43rd out of 1,615 men competing in 55-59 age group. Kinnaman ran a time of 3:14:49 and, by percentage, actually edged Finck.

Her 41st place showing put her in the top 11 percent of her division. Kinnaman placed in the top 3 percent of his age group.

The county's top female finisher was Lee's Karen T. Vidoli, 54, who finished in 3:55:01. She ranked 374th out of 1,284 runners in her division.

Baseball in the Berkshires Exhibit Highlights Black, Women's Teams

WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Baseball in the Berkshires museum this week opens an exhibit focusing on the history of Black baseball and women's baseball teams in Berkshire County.
 
"Not Your Ordinary Teams: The Unknown Story of Baseball in the Berkshires" opens on Friday, April 19, at the Old Town Hall, 9 Main St.
 
There will be an exhibit preview on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.
 
On Friday, the opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. will feature a lecture at 6:30.
 
Larry Moore, the director of Baseball in the Berkshires: A County's Common Bond, will moderate a discussion with guests Bryan House, a former Pittsfield Cub, and Joe Bateman, a former Minor Leaguer.
 
Not Your Ordinary Teams will be open on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. with a special presentation, "Innovation in Baseball - What's New?."
 
On Sunday, the exhibit again will be open from noon to 4 with a program titled "Tools of the Trade - the History of Baseball Equipment."
