SVMC Gastroenterology Uses New Technology for Better Imaging and Diagnostics

Print Story | Email Story

BENNINGTON, Vt. — Southwestern Vermont Medical Center's Gastroenterology Department recently acquired two new pieces of equipment that provide a level of imaging and diagnostics previously not available in the Bennington area.

A duodenoscope and endoscopic ultrasound device now give SVMC physicians access to extensive internal views and observation capabilities that lead to better diagnostics and treatment.

In addition to the improved technology, the practice has welcomed nurse Stephanie Sauer to the Gastroenterology practice and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Putnam Physicians.

Sauer completed her master's degree from Sage Colleges in New York in 2016. She received her bachelor's in nursing from State University of New York, Utica/Rome, in 2012 and her associate’s in nursing from Hudson Valley Community College in 2007. She has worked as a gastroenterology nurse for nine years and in the Endoscopy department at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center since 2013. In addition, Sauer is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She will begin seeing patients this month.

Southwestern Vermont Medical Center’s Gastroenterology practice diagnoses and treats a full range of digestive disorders including disorders of the stomach, esophagus, intestines, liver, and pancreas. Board-certified gastroenterologists and their supporting medical team focus on evaluating and managing conditions with the aim of restoring good digestive health. For patient convenience, the practice offers Saturday hours for colonoscopy screenings.

SVMC Gastroenterology is located in suite 104 of the Medical Office Building at 140 Hospital Drive in Bennington. For more information or to make an appointment, call 802-447-1536.
