GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Dalton CRA seventh- and eighth-grade girls travel basketball team last weekend won the Golden Knights Tournament, becoming the first Berkshire County program to win the event since Lee in 2009 and only the second county team to win the seventh- and eighth-grade division since the tournament began in 1989.
The Dalton CRA has won all four tournaments it entered this year.
On Sunday, Dalton overcame a field that included programs from communities like Norwalk, Conn., (population 88,500) and Clifton Park, N.Y., home to a Shenendehowa High girls basketball program ranked in the top 10 in New York’s large school division.
Teams from Clifton Park have won seven of the previous 28 tournament titles, including last year’s.
The Dalton CRA team is coached by Eric Furlong and Anthony Gamberoni and includes: Eva Eberwein, Morgan Marauzwski, Maria Gamberoni, Ella Quinto, Kristina Cusson, Kaylee O'Bryan, Lauren Bean, Jilly Cote, Noelle Furlong, Taylor Vidoli, Faith Savery and Kassidy Krejmas, coach Anthony Gamberoni.
The team is competing this weekend in the Berkshire County Championship tournament.
