NEW LEBANON, N.Y. — Darrow School is celebrating the start of its 86th school year by welcoming 112 students from across the United States, including Connecticut, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Vermont, and Washington. Approximately 20  percent are international students representing nine countries, including China, Taiwan, Japan, Dominica, Vietnam, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, Italy, and Canada. Approximately 80 percent of the students are boarders, 20 percent are day students, and about 38 percent are new to Darrow.

Also new to Darrow this year is Nicholas Forcier, who was named director of Admissions and Enrollment Management in the spring and began the position this summer. Forcier, who was previously Director of College Counseling at Darrow, has a master of arts degree in liberal studies with a focus on international studies from Stony Brook University, and a bachelor of science degree in political science from the State University of New York, College at Oneonta.

"We interviewed a field of very strong candidates for the position," Head of School Simon Holzapfel said. "In the process, one candidate really shined above the others. His intellect, experience, and passion really qualified him to lead our admissions efforts."

Also joining the Admissions team is Stephanie Boulay, associate director of Admissions. Boulay has a master of arts degree in liberal studies from Wesleyan University and has worked at independent boarding schools throughout the Northeast.

"I'm extremely excited to begin the new school year," Forcier said. "We have a talented and diverse group of new and returning students. I know that, as they engage with our outstanding faculty in the active learning curriculum, they will accomplish truly great things."

Darrow has a rolling admissions policy and offers mid-year enrollment on a limited basis. The school will host two open house sessions in the coming months, providing an ideal opportunity for prospective families to tour the campus, sit in on classes, and meet teachers and students. Open house sessions will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11, and Monday, Jan. 15, 2018. Interested applicants should call 518-794-6000 or visit the website.
