"Financial literacy is something I’ve always been passionate about and unfortunately, it’s not something I think is talked about enough," explained Financial Advisor Holly Simeone, organizer of Berkshire Money Management’s Open Office Hours. "There’s this assumption that you have to be wealthy to get professional financial advice, but I want to give everyone the opportunity to learn."

Simeone holds a Certified Estate and Trust Specialist designation from the Institute of Business and Finance, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fitchburg State University, and master’s in Finance from the New England Institute of Business at Cambridge College. She is an alumnus of the Berkshire Leadership Program and has experience teaching community-focused lessons in personal finance and budgeting as a volunteer for the Elizabeth Freeman Center’s Money School.

Prior to joining Berkshire Money Management, Holly was a dual employee for Lee Bank and Oct. Mountain Financial Advisors where, among other things, she handled trusts, estates, and private banking. She is currently studying for the Certified Financial Planner® exam to earn her CFP designation.

Originally from the Worcester area, Simeone enjoys exploring the Berkshires and learning more about the place she now calls home. In her free time, she enjoys reading, practicing yoga, and hiking with her four-year-old black lab, Milo, and her husband, Adam.

State Closes Brookside Road Bridge

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.— Brookside Road bridge was closed today following a routine inspection by the MA Department of Transportation.

Town Public Works Superintendent Joe Aberdale said the DOT inspection report now requires further state review and that there is no information yet on a timeline for reopening. Brookside Road is located south of town and runs east to Brush Hill Road and Boardman Street.

Aberdale said load limits on the older, trestle bridge have been disregarded for some years by heavy vehicles. He said that usage has likely taken a toll on the span over the Housatonic River.

Southbound drivers heading to Brush Hill and the north end of Boardman Street will need to travel further south on Route 7 to Kellogg Road and then onto Boardman Street, heading north.

"We will keep residents informed as we learn more from the state DOT," said Aberdale.
