Edward J. Stefanik
Edward J. Stefanik, 81, of 23 Anthony St., died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital.Born in Adams on Dec. 19, 1925, son of Andrew and Anna Glod Stefanik, he graduated from St. Stanislaus' School and attended the former Adams High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 363rd Ordnance Maintenance Company and participated in the campaign for Okinawa. He was awarded the Bronze Star and other campaign medals.
Mr. Stefanik was employed by the former W.R. Grace Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1988.
He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and a member of its St. Stanislaus Kostka Society, and a member of the W.R. Grace Quarter Century Club and of the Northern Berkshire Retired Men's Club and its bowling league.
His wife, the former Patricia Groves, whom he married Nov. 12, 1955, died Dec. 31, 1989.
He leaves a daughter, Susan Corah of Glenville, N.Y.; a sister, Gladys Wilk of Adams; and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Edward J. Stefanik, who died Saturday, March 31, 2007, will be Thursday, April 5, at 9 a.m. from PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, with a Libera service at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams.
Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Glencliff Elementary School Playground Fund through the funeral home. He also leaves a son-in-law, Chip Corah; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Erin and Nicholas Corah, all of Glenville, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
