Philip Sprague, 89
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Philip Joseph Sprague, 89, of North Adams, Mass., died, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, June 21, 2020, at his home.
He was born in North Adams, Mass., on January 17, 1931, a son of the late Gerald and Julia (LePak) Sprague. He attended schools in North Adams and graduated Drury High School. He enlisted in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, earning the rank of corporal. He was stationed overseas for more than a year in France. After his discharge on April 23, 1955, he married the love of his life, the former Veronica Boschetti.
Mr. Sprague was employed at Sprague Electric for more than 44 years. He served in the Yankee Division of the National Guard. He was a member of the American Legion Post 125 in North Adams. He enjoyed staying active, golfing at the North Adams Country Club and bowling. Most treasured were his walks with his wife, Verne.
Survivors include his wife, Veronica; two sons, Mark Sprague and his former wife, Elena, of North Adams, and Daniel Sprague and his wife Pat of Florida; his granddaughter, Christa Sprague; and two sisters, Eleanor Dalton of Adams, Mass., and Katherine Kolis of North Adams.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Cyril, Paul and Edward Sprague; and a sister, Geraldine Tepple.
