Richard Lavariere, 86

Richard Walter Lavariere, 86 of North Adams died on Thursday April 28, 2022 at The Danforth Care Center in Hoosick Falls, NY.

He was born in North Adams, MA on May 24, 1935 the son of the late Walter Lavariere and Alice (Desrosiers) Lavariere, as well as stepfather Louis A Roberts. Richard graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in North Adams.

Richard was last employed by the Town of Hancock as the plumbing inspector. He was employed at Sprague Electric as the plumbing foreman for many years. Richard also worked at Mt Greylock Regional High School & Mt. Anthony High School. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, reading, movies, golfing and traveling during the fall. His wife Elaine (Wright) Danforth Lavariere died on November 19, 1994.

Richard leaves his children, Elizabeth Petri (Bob Fortini) of North Adams, Richard Louis Lavariere (Jayne) of North Adams, Susan Segala (Neil) of Norton, MA, Lisa Xanthos (Arthur) of Dover, NH and former wife Marguerite (Serre) Lavariere Thornton of North Adams. He also leaves his two stepchildren, Brenda Lee Danforth and Theresa Liebenow of Pittsfield, MA as well as nine grandchildren, Katie Morey, Maria Segala, Jonathan Demarsico, Allison Zustra, Alex Segala, Gary Lavariere, Jason Bona, Travis Bona, Nick Donati and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his longtime partner, Helen Biondo.

FUNERAL NOTICE: A service to celebrate the life of Richard Lavariere will be celebrated on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Flynn & Dagnoli – WEST CHAPEL 521 West Main St. North Adams, MA 01247.
