Peter Zabek, Jr. 82

WINDSOR, Mass. —  

Mr. Peter Zabek, Jr., 82, of Windsor Pond, died on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

He was born in Adams on April 7, 1940, a son of the late Peter and Mildred (Nowak) Zabek. He attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1958.

He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1958 to 1962 with an honorable discharge.

Mr. Zabek last worked in the finance department of Ronnie’s Cycle. Earlier he had been the Vice President and Treasurer of the former South Adams Savings Bank for 30 years.

He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, where he was active with the parish and served on several committees. He was a longtime member and former president of the PNA Lodge # 1365 in Adams. He enjoyed football and his favorite team was the Patriot’s.

He is survived by his sister, Dolores Zabek of Adams; his brother, Robert (Mania) Zabek of Shelton, CT; three nephews, Kevin Zabek, David (Rebecca) Tatro and Lance (Linda) Tatro; five nieces, Tami (Jon) Levesque, Christine Tatro, Susan Morris, Laurie Schnopps and Lisa (Jeffrey)Twarog; and by twelve great nieces and nephews including Jonpierre, Shaleigh, and Justin Levesque.

He was predeceased by three sisters, Janet Zabek, Helen (Walter) Tatro and Christine Zabek.

Peter also leaves his nurse, a great friend and “family” member, Jane Cross. The family will be forever grateful for Jane. She stood by Peter right until the end.

The funeral will be held on Friday, September 23, at 11:00 A.M. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire.

Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Friday morning from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
