Sandra Bateman, 66

LENOX, Mass. —

Mrs. Sandra (Fox) Bateman, 66, of Lenox, died on Monday, January 1, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Fort Gregg Adams, VA.

She was born in Pittsfield on March 20, 1957, a daughter of the late Robert and Helen (Oparowski) Fox. She attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Taconic High School.

Sandra worked for many years as a certified nursing assistant for Berkshire County ARC, where she was known as the “house mother”, baking and cooking for all the residents and staff.

She had been a Girl Scout Troop Leader and enjoyed baking for her family.

She is survived by her former husband, Anthony M. Bateman, Sr., of Pittsfield; her son, Anthony M. Bateman, Jr.,; two daughters, Desiree Addy and her husband Benjamin of Fort Gregg Adams, VA and Nicole Zink and her husband Mark of Lenox; her brother Thomas Fox and his wife Mary of Adams; her sister Susan Fawcett and her husband David of New Hampshire; six grandchildren, Benjamin, Anjali, Azriel and Davina Addy, Ivan Zink and Alice-May as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private for the family. There are no calling hours.

Our mother gave to all who asked and who did not ask of her. She was truly a servant of God. Although, she did not expect the recognition my mother was a devout giver of charity to family, neighbors, and the homeless, the outcasts and the poor. She fed people begging on the streets. Her regular contributions were to organizations such as Christians United for Israel ministering to widows and orphans there. She also religiously gave to Indigenous children and several Federally recognized Native American organizations including Southwest Indian Foundation. Additionally, she gave to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and a donation was also made by her daughter in her honor to WebYeshiva for the continuation of A Torah Education. Memorial donations in honor of Sandra may be made to any of these charities.

The PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, Adams, is in charge of arrangements.

Anthony, Desiree, Nicole, Tony and surrounding family; Sandy was a wonderful person who always put others first. From sliding me double lunch in middle school to the girl scout and get togethers she felt like a second mom when I was away from home. I'm profusely apologetic for her loss to you and a pillar of your family. May she forever look over you.

Sandy had recently returned to worshiping at our church when work allowed. We were just catching up on our lives. She was a lovely person, non judgemental, and easy to talk to. I’m sad we lost all those years to grow our friendship. We’ll meet again, my friend. To your family, I’m so sorry for your loss. Phyllis
