Pownal 'Boogie' Concert Canceled

POWNAL, Vt. — A music festival planned at the former Green Mountain Race Track has been canceled.

"Full Tilt Boogie" featuring ZZ Top, the Marshall Tucker Band and others, was scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22. A posting on the Green Mountain Live website said the cancellation was because of safety issues, but did not elaborate. The webpage for Full Tilt Boogie has been removed.

"Due to circumstances beyond our control and out of concern for the safety of the festival goers we have decided to cancel The Full Tilt Boogie 2015.

"While we regret this decision, it was made in the best interest of public safety. We anticipate being able to resolve this situation in the near future, but not in time for the August 22nd festival.

"If you have purchased a ticket, please contact the place you purchased the ticket from to inquire about a refund. We are actively planning our 2016 season and anticipate having a number of events at the former Green Mountain Racetrack.

"We appreciate the great support that we have received from the town of Pownal, state of Vermont and many others."

The one-day concert was expected to be the first event to kick off the rejuvenation of the former race track as a music and events venue.
