Greylock Thunder 16U Takes on Field at R.I .Tourney

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Greylock Thunder 16-and-under travel softball team Saturday went 1-1 at the Rockem Shockem Tournament.
 
After opening the tournament with a loss to the Vermont Storm on Saturday, the Thunder bounced back on Saturday with a 6-0 win over the Southern Maine River Rats before falling to the host Rhode Island Aftershock, 11-1.
 
Crash Bird thew a no-hitter against the River Rats, striking out four and allowing three walks.
 
Offensively, Alyssa Mercier led the way, going 2-for-3 with a triple and a pair of RBIs. Abby Bird doubled in a run, and Emily Eastman, Megan Guyette and Jayden Tower each had a hit.
 
Tower went the distance in the circle against the Aftershock, allowing just five earned runs.
 
Ellie Harnick drove in a run, and Kaylee Tatro, Mercier, Crash Bird and Abby Bird each had a hit.

Candidate Forum for Adams Selectmen Set Tuesday

ADAMS, Mass. — iBerkshires will host a forum for the Board of Selectmen candidates on Tuesday, April 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the Adams Visitors Center. 
 
All five candidates — Ann M. Bartlett, John Duval, Jerome Simon Socolof, Donald R. Sommer and Mitchell Wisniowski — have indicated they plan to attend. There are two seats open on the Board of Selectmen in the May 6 town election. 
 
The forum will be moderated by iBerkshires Editor Tammy Daniels and recorded for later broadcast on Northern Berkshire Community Television. 
 
The candidates will be given the opportunity to introduce themselves at the beginning of the forum and time to address the audience at its conclusion. Daniels will ask the questions but residents my submit questions or topics of interest they would like addressed to info@iberkshires.com
