Kaley Ks 17 in CRA Softball League Win

DALTON, Mass. -- Sammie Kaley struck out 17 batters recently to lead the Fire Department to a 7-0 win over the American Legion in the Junior League of the Dalton CRA’s Summer Softball program.
 
Edrie Collins led the Fire Department’s offense with a pair of hits.
 
Gracey Farley had a pair of hits, and Ella Dougherty had a hit for the American Legion.
 

Senior League

Dalton Police Association 5, Lions Club 0
Kaylee O’Bryan went the distance in the circle, striking out eight and allowing one hit in seven innings of work.
 
O’Bryan also had three hits, including a triple, and a pair of RBIs to help her own cause.
 
Morgan Marauszwski doubled for the Lions Club. She also split time in the circle with Jordan Bazinet and Ava Brazeau, combining to strike out six.
 
Lions Club 4, Superior Graphics 3
Marauszwski had two hits, including a triple, and Emma Belcher had two hits and a pair of RBIs in the win.
 
Belcher, Bazinet and Brazeau teamed up for the win in the circle, fanning six.
 
For Superior Graphics, Hannah Connelly had two hits and two RBIs. Casey Wilson struck out four in seven innings in the circle.
 
Dalton Police Association 5, Superior Graphics 3
O’Bryan and Cami Sweet combined to strike out 15 in the win for DPA.
 
Sweet and O’Bryan each had two hits and a pair of RBIs at the plate. Lexi Choquette added a pair of hits in the win.
 
Wilson threw a complete game, striking out eight, for Superior Graphics, which got a pair of RBIs from Wilson.

Dalton CRA May Day Races Return May 5

DALTON, Mass.  — The 47th annual Community Recreation Association May Day Races will be held Sunday, May 5, at Nessacus Middle School, with major sponsorship by Greylock Federal Credit Union.
 
Races include 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer, the Obstacles & Popsicles kids’ races for ages 8 and under, and a 1-mile Splatter Sprint for ages 8 and up, all with chip timing by Berkshire Running Center, along with an untimed fun walk.
 
The 5K road/trail race, 10K road race and fun walk begin at 9 a.m. The Obstacles & Popsicles races begin at 10 a.m., with the Splatter Sprint immediately following.
 
The first 100 runners to register (combined 5K/10K) will receive a long-sleeve wicking T-shirt. Every participant in the Obstacles & Popsicles kids’ races will receive a ribbon and freeze pop at the finish line. All proceeds benefit nonprofit CRA and Dalton Youth Center programs.
