Dalton Police Association Rallies for 8-Inning Softball Win

DALTON, Mass. -- Jordyn Bazinet went 3-for-3 with a double and a pair of RBIs to help the Dalton Lions Club earn an extra-inning win over the Dalton Police Association in Dalton CRA Senior League action this week.
 
The Lions Club (2-1) got a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs from Emma Belcher.
 
Bazinet also went seven innnings in the circle, allowing just a pair of hits. Morgan Marauszwski threw one inning in the win.
 
For DPA (3-1), Kaylee O'Bryan and Kami Sweet split time in the circle. O'Bryan also had a pair of hits and three RBIs at the plate while Ainsleigh Sullivan drove in a run with one hit.
 
Superior Graphics 9, Lions Club 1
Abby Wells homered and added another hit in the offensive attack for Superior Graphics (1-3), which got seven innings of two-hit pitching from Casey Wilson.
 
Maraauszwski had a pair of hits and scored the only run for Lions Club (2-2). She also split time in the circle with Bazinet and Ava Brazeau.
 
Superior Graphics 9, DPA 7
Wells had three hits and drove in three for Superior Graphics (2-3), which got a pair of hits from Hannah Connelly.
 
Wilson again went the distance in the circle to pick up the "W."
 
Hailey Lenski had three hits and scored a pair of runs for DPA (3-2). Sullivan added a pair of hits, and Sweet doubled, drove in three and threw a complete game in the circle.
 
JUNIOR LEAGUE
American Legion 15, Kowalczyk Development 7
Three players doubled for the American Legion (2-1).
 
Gracey Farley and Marleigh White each had a two-bagger and drove in a pair of runs. White added a single and scored three runs herself. Mad McCarthy also doubled.
 
For Kowalczyk (0-2), Megan O'Bryan had a double and a single.
 
Kowalczyk Development 13, Dalton Fire Department 8
O'Bryan and Rylynn Lamb each had three hits in the win for Kowalcyzk (1-2).
 
Anna Doyle and Tora Thorsean each had a pair of hits, and Sam Kaley had a double for the Fire Department (2-1).

Dalton CRA May Day Races Return May 5

DALTON, Mass.  — The 47th annual Community Recreation Association May Day Races will be held Sunday, May 5, at Nessacus Middle School, with major sponsorship by Greylock Federal Credit Union.
 
Races include 5-kilometer and 10-kilometer, the Obstacles & Popsicles kids’ races for ages 8 and under, and a 1-mile Splatter Sprint for ages 8 and up, all with chip timing by Berkshire Running Center, along with an untimed fun walk.
 
The 5K road/trail race, 10K road race and fun walk begin at 9 a.m. The Obstacles & Popsicles races begin at 10 a.m., with the Splatter Sprint immediately following.
 
The first 100 runners to register (combined 5K/10K) will receive a long-sleeve wicking T-shirt. Every participant in the Obstacles & Popsicles kids’ races will receive a ribbon and freeze pop at the finish line. All proceeds benefit nonprofit CRA and Dalton Youth Center programs.
