Companion Corner: Ramsey at Second Chance

ARLINGTON, Vt. — There's a dog at Second Chance Animal Shelter that is ready to play ball with his new family.

 

iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home.

 

Ramsey is a pitbull mix who is more than 6 years old.

 

Lead canine care technician Alaura Lasher introduced us to him.

 

"Even though he's 6 1/2, he's still a pretty energetic boy. He loves to play outside, loves to play with his ball, he loves to do the zoomies outside, and he's very interested in lots of smells," she said.

 

Ramsey has been at the shelter for a little over a month and was brought there because his owners couldn't care for him anymore.

 

He needs to go to a home without cats. Since he is also still very energetic, it's recommended he go to a home with older children as well. 

 

"We're just looking someone who's kind of maybe on the more active side, who can let him run and play as much as he likes, maybe take him on adventures like hikes or stuff," Lasher said. "Possibly another dog — no cats. And then we're just thinking some older children or children who are used to more energetic dogs."

 

Ramsey came from a home with a big family and the change to the shelter has been hard for him.

 

"Just the separation anxiety, he's been struggling a little bit in the kennel. He was used to being in a home with a family, so now in the kennel, he's a little anxious. But other than that, he's a pretty good boy, pretty chill boy, well, chill with energy," she laughed.

 

Ramsey loves to play but be wary of soft toys as he will tear them apart!
