The Select Board heard from Cypress Equities of Texas on its potential plans for the Berkshire Mall site.
Cypress's managing director Scott Harrington gave the audience information about the real estate development company, some of its other developments across the country, and what its hopes to do with the defunct mall.
In June, Pittsfield's Business Development Manager Michael Coakley said there was an interested buyer for a couple of acres on Site 9, a pharmaceutical research and development company.
Coakley said they have received a purchase and sale agreement but before signing, there have to be assurances that the company has the financial requirements to construct the building.

The Highland Restaurant will close after 90 years of serving locals pasta, seafood, and other Italian favorites.
The restaurant announced on social media that August will be its last month in business.

Residential Sales Rose Countywide 7 Percent, Dollar Volume Rose 14 Percent
All real estate is local, and the first two quarters of 2026 reinforce the importance of looking beyond regional trends to town-level data. Middle and South County led the market with increases in both sales and dollar volume in residential sales, while North County single family home sales declined. South County saw a rising condo, land and commercial markets, with a stable multifamily market compared to last year. Condo sales fell in middle and north county.
Even within regions, performance varied widely, highlighting how pockets of activity can shift quickly from one community to another. Be sure to review the town-by-town data beginning on page 15 for a fuller picture of your specific area of interest. For economic stability:

Northern Berkshire: All real estate sales rose by 2 percent; however dollar volume fell by 16 percent to $60 million.

Central Berkshire: All real estate were level from last year; dollar volume rose modestly 3 percent or $171.5 million

Southern Berkshire: All real estate sales increased by 25 percent; dollar volume increased by 26 percent to $90.6 million.
