Q&A WITH LEAGUE DIRECTOR

Answered By: CRA Program Coordinator Matt Fisher

1
WHAT MAKES DALTON YOUTH FOOTBALL SPECIAL?
What makes Dalton Youth Football special isn't just the game itself. It's the tradition, the people, and the sense of community that surrounds it. Since 1954, generations of Dalton children have put on the uniform, stepped onto the field, and become part of something bigger than themselves. Parents volunteer, coaches teach, families cheer, and former players come back to support the next generation. The wins and championships are certainly memorable, but the real legacy of Dalton Youth Football is the lifelong friendships, lessons, and memories it has created for generations of Dalton families.
2
WHAT LIFE LESSONS DO YOU THINK KIDS LEARN THROUGH YOUTH FOOTBALL?
Youth football teaches kids lessons that extend far beyond the football field. They learn teamwork, discipline, accountability, resilience, and respect. When a child puts on that Dalton Youth Football jersey, they're becoming part of a team, a community, and a tradition. Those are lessons and relationships that can stay with them long after their playing days are over.
3
WHAT ROLE DO PARENTS, VOLUNTEERS AND THE COMMUNITY PLAY IN THE PROGRAM?
The Dalton community also plays a major role. Local businesses, families, alumni, and community members continue to support the program in so many different ways. Whether it is sponsoring the program, helping at a game, coaching, or simply coming out to support the kids, every contribution matters.
4
WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO A PARENT OR YOUNG ATHLETE WHO IS CONSIDERING JOINING DALTON YOUTH FOOTBALL FOR THE FIRST TIME?
My biggest piece of advice would be: give it a chance and come be part of it. You never know where that first practice or first game might lead but it can become a pretty special part of their childhood. For parents, I would say that you're not just signing your child up for a sport. You're giving them an opportunity to become part of a community and a tradition that has been around for generations. They'll build relationships with teammates, coaches, and families that can last well beyond their time playing football.
5
DOES DALTON YOUTH FOOTBALL ACCEPT DONATIONS?
We welcome donations of equipment, financial contributions, and sponsorships to help support the program and provide the best possible experience for our athletes.
6
ARE THERE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES?
Absolutely! Dalton Youth Football relies heavily on volunteers, including coaches, team helpers, event volunteers, and parents who help with game days and other program needs. Anyone interested in getting involved is encouraged to reach out to the program.
