Lydia DiMartino, 90


PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Lydia (Pariselli) DiMartino, 90, of Pittsfield died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at the Mount Carmel Care Center.



She was born in Pittsfield on October 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Samuel and Angeline (D'Arcangelo) Pariselli. She attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School with the class of 1942. Lydia was employed for 35 years for the former Power Transformer Division at General Electric, retiring in 1986. She was former communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild. She was a member of the G.E Quarter Century Club and the G.E Pensioners Club and the Cugini Club.



She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, reading and crossword puzzles. 



Her husband Jasper F. DiMartino, whom she married on July 4, 1946, in Mount Carmel Church, died November 16, 2000. 



Survivors include one daughter, Rosemary D. Callahan of Pittsfield; one son, Anthony S. DiMartino and his wife Joan of Pittsfield; three loving grandchildren, Kristie Callahan, Ashley Matthews and her husband Joseph, and Deborah Gregory and her husband Matthew; five great-grandchildren, Cameron, Connor, Curran and Cassondra Pularo and Joey Matthews; four sisters, Enis Pullaro, Lena Robinson, Anna Benham and Rosemary Waitekus, all of Pittsfield; a son-in-law, Patrick Callahan of Pittsfield; and a sister-in-law, Ann Pariselli of Norton, Mass.



She was predeceased by a brother, Americo Pariselli. 



Lydia's family would like to thank the staff at Mount Carmel Care Center for their kindness, love and support shown to Lydia. The family is very grateful.



Funeral notice: At Lydia's request, a private Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, at 10 a.m at St. Joseph Church in Pittsfield with the Rev. Christopher Joseph Waitekus, nephew and pastor of St. Mary's Church in Longmeadow, Mass., as the celebrant. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery. 



There were no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for Moments House or Mount Carmel Care Center in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
