Edward R. Santerre Jr., 64
ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Edward Roy Santerre Jr., 64, of 21 Bieniek Ave., Adams, died on Friday, October 21, 2016, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Adams on March 3, 1952, son of Phyllis (Demastrie) Santerre and the late Edward R. Santerre Sr. He attended schools in Adams and North Adams and graduated from Charles H. McCann Technical High School.
Immediately following his graduation he went to work for General Electric Co. in Pittsfield as an electrician and worked for 20 years until the plant closed. He then went to work for Dickson Auto Supply in Pittsfield for 3 years.
He was a member of the Adams Lodge of Elks, the Mountain Club, Adams, and the Adams Turners, where he had served many years as Vice President.
Besides his mother of Adams, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, the former Paula M. Richardson, whom he married on October 28, 1972; his daughter, Megan Puricelli and her husband Matthew of Adams; three grandchildren, Sarah McCarthy of Adams, Jerry McCarthy of Parris Island, N.C., and Molly Puricelli of Adams; and his buddy, pal and furry friend Miles, whom he rescued from the shelter.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, McKinley and Ethel Demastrie and Alberte and Glorina (Fillion) Haley Santerre.
Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at 10 a.m. in the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams; relatives and friends may start arriving at 9 a.m. Deacon Gregory LaFreniere will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Wednesday, October 26, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests that memorial donations be made to Paula Santerre, 21 Bieniek Ave., Adams, MA 01220.
