Robert E. Rothacker, 95
ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Robert E. Rothacker, 95, of Adams died Saturday morning, November 4, 2017, at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield.
He was born in Chicago, Ill., on June 30, 1922, a son of the late Edward and Mary Jane (Coyle) Rothacker, and attended schools there. He was a Veteran of World War II, entering the US Army in October of 1942. He served with the 362nd Infantry Regiment in the European Theater. His unit saw heavy fighting, and he was awarded numerous decorations, including the Bronze Star and Silver Star Medals. He was Honorably Discharged as a Staff Sergeant in November of 1945.
Mr. Rothacker last worked as a truck driver for Beacon Moving Co. in California for 30 years, until retiring. He had lived in Adams for the past 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, J. Virginia (Cole) Rothacker, whom he married on Dec. 20, 1974.
