Betty LaRoche, 93

CHESHIRE, Mass. — Mrs. Betty C. (Kenney) LaRoche, 93, of Cheshire, formerly of Adams, died Friday morning, December 8, 2017, at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield.

She was born in Adams on September 2, 1924, a daughter of the late Henry and Mabel (Wilbur) Kenney, and attended Adams schools. She lived in Adams most of her life until moving to Cheshire several years ago. Betty last worked as a school bus driver for Dufour, Inc., and earlier, for the former E.W. DeGere Transportation in Adams, from 1970 until retiring in 1995. Earlier, she had worked at the former Signet Corp. in Adams for several years.

She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire, and while in Adams, of Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church. She was a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne and the Cheshire Senior Citizens. She loved bingo, playing dominoes, bowling, sewing, flowers, music and puzzles.

Her husband, Jerome LaRoche, whom she married on February 14, 1942, died on April 14, 2004.

She is survived by her children, Jean Guerin (Jerry) of Hinsdale, Mass., Bernard LaRoche of Bennington, Vt., Nancy Kramer (Dennis) of Alto Loma, Calif., Joseph LaRoche (Sandy) of Torrington, Conn., Mark LaRoche (Cristina Radulescu) of Hudson, Quebec, Canada, and Therese Slater (Tim Coons) of Lanesborough, Mass.; her grandchildren, Kim Guerin McNeil (Ted), Cheryl Guerin Josler, Dr. Stephen Guerin (Denette), Dr. Dain LaRoche (Natasha), Tommi LaRoche, Travis Paquette, Jon Paquette (Mary), Andrew Kramer, Amelie Morgan, Kenny Barber, Jeffrey LaRoche (Lauren), Justin LaRoche (Darci), Shelby Hannon, Matthew Hannon, Eric Hannon, Joshua LaRoche (Julie-Ann), Stephen LaRoche (Rachel), Michelle Slater-Goggia (Deb), Robert Slater (Cassie Lord), Thomas Slater and T.J. Coons; 21.5 great-grandchildren; a brother, James Kenney of Punta Gorda, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by siblings Ruth Adelt, Dorothy Blendinger, John (Jack) Kenney, William Kenney, Margery Bernier, and Robert Kenney.

Funeral notice: The funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. from the Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Cheshire. Burial will be at a later date in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.

Calling hours are Saturday morning from 9 to10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cheshire Senior Citizens,119 School St., Cheshire, MA 01225, or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, 877 South St. Pittsfield, MA 01201.

Betty and myself drove school bus together for many
years. We drove for Ed Degere and there are many good memories. We always had fun together. We were a family. When my husband Bernie died she was there for me. She will be missed.
