Henry W. Lescarbeau, 82

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Henry William Lescarbeau, 82, of North Adams died on February 21, 2018, at his home.

He was born in North Adams on October 8, 1935, a son of the late Edward Joseph Sarafin Lescarbeau and Emaline Lord Lescarbeau. Henry grew up in North Adams. He attended Notre Dame School, and later Johnson School. Over the years, he worked at Wall Streeter Shoe Co., Widen Tannery, General Cable, and later Carol Cable for 33 years as a Supervisor until its closing. He was a former member of Co. K 104 Infantry Mass National Guards, former Sub Master of Cub Scouts pack 62 of Boy Scouts of America. Henry served two terms on the Clarksburg Board of Health; he served 22 years on the Clarksburg Police Department, retiring as Chief. He was the former director of the Clarksburg Volunteer Ambulance Service.

He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. He enjoyed music and woodworking, as well as classic movies.

He married the former Virginia Reed of Williamstown, Mass., on October 27, 1956, in Notre Dame Du Sacre Coeur Church by the Rev. J. T. Brodeur in North Adams, Mass. They celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

Henry and Virginia lived in Clarksburg, Mass., for 45 years, where they ran a small farm and raised their two sons, Clifford Lescarbeau and his wife, Carol, of Pittsfield, Mass., and Jeffrey Lescarbeau and his wife, Kristine of Adams, Mass. Survivors also include six grandchildren, John, Kevin, Jeffrey Jr. and Kayla Lescarbeau, all of North Adams, Jessica Lescarbeau of Clarksburg, Mass., and Jason Lescarbeau of Las Vegas, Nev; and 10 great-grandchildren. He also leaves four sisters, Theresa Grieger and Irma Foster of North Adams, Emaline Goddard of Clarksburg, Mass., and Bernadette Aubin and her husband, Alex, of Stamford, Vt.; three brothers, Leon Lescarbeau and his wife, Patricia, Norman Lescarbeau and his wife, Helena, and Harold Lescarbeau and his wife, Marcia, all of North Adams; three sisters-in-law, Shirley, Mary and Nancy Lescarbeau; and many nieces and nephews.    

He was predeceased by eight brothers, Louie, David, Edward, Lawrence, Felix, Richard, Howard and Donald; and three brothers-in-law, Paul Grieger, Nelson Foster Jr. and Ralph Goddard.

Funeral notice: A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Henry Lescarbeau will be celebrated Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will take place in the spring at Clarksburg Cemetery.

Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapel, 521 West Main St., North Adams, Mass., are Monday, February 26, 2018, from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations in his memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
