Robert S. Cwalinski, 81

ADAMS, Mass. — Mr. Robert Stanley Cwalinski, 81, formerly of Adams, died Tuesday evening, April 10, 2018, at North Adams Commons.

He was born in Adams on November 9, 1936, a son of the late Stanley and Elizabeth (Jamros) Cwalinski, and attended Adams schools. He graduated from the former Adams High School, and attended Suffolk University in Boston. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving aboard the USS John S. McCain, until his Honorable Discharge in 1957.

Bob had worked at General Electric Co. and Lockheed-Martin in Pittsfield until his retirement. Earlier, he had worked for the Springfield Republican Newspaper, where he had covered Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio. 

He had been a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He was an avid sports fan, autograph seeker and coin/stamp collector. He always liked to drive and see new sights and go to new places. Bob liked taking the family to sporting venues and games such as Fenway Park, Yankee Stadium, Madison Square Garden and the Boston Garden. While at Adams High, he was a member of its basketball team that played at Boston Garden. He always made sure to attend his sons’ sporting events and supported them in any venture that they attempted.

His wife, the former Nancy Yates, died in 2010.

He is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey Cwalinski and his wife, Edna, of Houston, Texas, and James Cwalinski and his wife, Naomi, of Long Beach, Calif.; his granddaughters, Marianna, Faith and Joy Cwalinski of Houston, Texas, and Nancy Rae Cwalinski of Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Judith Douville of Dalton, Mass., and Mary Culverwell and her husband, Dick, of Adams; a brother, Stanley Cwalinski and his wife, Donna, of Adams;  as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral notice: Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Adams Little League, PO Box 302, Adams, MA 01220, to help build a dome for winter baseball games. The Paciorek Funeral Home, Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
