Raymond F. Lemoine, 97

ADAMS, Mass. - Raymond F. Lemoine, 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 4, with his family by his side.

Ray was born in Adams on August 4, 1926, son of Peter Lemoine and Antoinette Leonard Lemoine. He attended Adams schools. Ray served in the U.S. Army from 1944-46 as a radio operator in the Signal Corps. for joint assault operations. After his discharge, he graduated from Drury High School.

In 1951 he married Jean Ernst at St. Mary’s Church in Pittsfield. Ray worked at Arnold Print Works for 35 years as an engraver. He was also a real estate broker, owning his own business. His last employment was in the Adams-Cheshire Regional School District as the maintenance supervisor.

He always said that was his most satisfying work, being around the students. He was a lifetime member of the Civic Club and a former senior vice commander of the American Legion. Ray loved people and sports. Everyone who knew Ray loved him, and he loved them back. He was coach and president of the Adams Church League, coached the Kostka team in softball, played softball for the DeBlois Market (where he set a league record of two home runs in a single inning and tied another by hitting three in one game) and Commercial St. Café teams, as well as various basketball teams.

He was a communicant of the Church of Pope John Paul the Great (Notre Dame), at various times serving on the church council and building committees. He leaves eight children: Stephen, Jerry (Monica) Ron (Pete), Allan (Laura), Chris (Barb), Ray (Johna), Carolyn (Gerry), Noelle (Bruce), many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Jean, and his two sisters Stella Kondel and Theresa Comeau.

The Lemoine family would like to give special thanks to his Home Instead caregiver, Pam Chenail, and all the neighbors on Country Club Ave., whom dad considered family.

The funeral procession will form at the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams on Friday, May 10th at 10:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams.

Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 7 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pop Cares, PO Box 482, Williamstown, MA 01267, or online at www.popcares.org

I'm so sorry to hear of Ray's passing. Sending my sincere condolences to the Lemoine Family. Ray was such a wonderful gentleman. I had many talks with him when he was employed with the school system as well as in my former neighborhood on Melrose St / Gilead St. He always had a smile and always had time to talk. He was an angel in disguise & a true blessing to know. The world lost one of the kindest, loving people I've known.
