Frances Siciliano, 100

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Frances Siciliano, 100, of 85 Eagle St., St. Joseph's Court, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Springside Nursing Home in Pittsfield. Born in Warren, R.I., on April 19, 1913, daughter of Emilio and Rosa Rossi, her family returned to Capriati, Italy, when she was 6 months old. Her mother died when she was 5 and she returned to the United States at age 15 with her sister, Aida. Mrs. Siciliano was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co., where she worked for many years until her retirement. She first worked in the mills in Warren and later in Athol. She was employed by the former Gale Shoe Co. when she moved to North Adams. A devoted communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church, she was a member of its Rosary Society and worked at its bazaars. She was a life member of the Sons of Italy. She enjoyed cooking for her family and tending to her flower garden. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting, making many sweaters, hats and mittens for the church bazaar. Her husband, Dominic Siciliano, whom she married on June 11, 1938, died on May 29, 2003. She leaves two daughters, Carol Morris and her husband, Kenneth, of Pittsfield and Helen Siciliano and her husband, Andy Zauls, of Quincy; a son, Robert Siciliano and his wife, Marie, of Salt Lake City, Utah; a daughter-in-law, Martha Siciliano of Williamstown; seven grandchildren, Mark Siciliano, Kristine Vail, Michelle Rayner, Brent Siciliano, Jason Zauls, Nicole Boquet and Danielle Williams; 11 great-grandchildren, Sahana, Malena, Sarah, Ryan, Rylie, Rian, Chase, Samantha, Erin, Andrew and Sebastian, and a niece and nephew, Anna Beane and Joseph Gagliardi. Her son, Thomas Siciliano died in 2008. She was also predeceased her sister Aida Gagliardi, her brother, Vincenzo Rossi, and two sisters-in-law Anna Baker and Rose Van Patten. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Siciliano will be Thursday, May 2, at 10:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 1, from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the American Cancer Society or HospiceCare of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
