T. Rose Codogni, 90
READSBORO, Vt. - T. Rose Codogni, 90, of 300 Village Lane, Bennington, and formerly of 270 Tunnel St., died Monday, May 27, 2013, at her home.
Born in Wilmington on June 26, 1922, daughter of Giulio and Mary Uboldi Andognini, she attended schools in Monroe Bridge, Mass., and graduated from the Drury High School in North Adams, Mass., with the class of 1939. She lived in Monroe Bridge from 1927 until 1945, when she moved to Readsboro.
A Navy veteran of World War II, she enlisted in the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) on June 15, 1943. She trained at Hunter College in New York City and Oklahoma A & M College in Stillwater, and was assigned as a secretary at the Bureau of Ships in Washington, D.C., until her discharge in December 1945.
Mrs. Codogni was employed at Deerfield Specialty Papers in Monroe Bridge, including for four years prior to her military service, until retiring on Aug. 1, 1983.
She was a communicant of St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro and a member of the Readsboro American Legion Post 29. She enjoyed gardening, baking, sewing and crocheting.
Her husband, Robert Alesti Codogni, whom she married Nov. 22, 1945, died on Feb. 9, 2012.
She leaves two daughters, Kathleen Whitney and her husband, James, of North Adams and Diane Reeves of Adams, Mass.; a brother, G. Carl Andognini of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Reynolds, Christopher Whitney and Christine Reeves Miller; three great-grandchildren, William Reynolds, Sarah Reynolds and Connor Miller, and nieces and nephews.
Her sisters Olga Simonetti and Mary Creek are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Codogni will be celebrated Saturday, June 1, at 11 at St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery.
