Olga N. Simonetti, 79

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Olga Norma Simonetti, 79, of 6 Dorothy's Way died Friday, July 22, 2011, at Charlene Manor in Greenfield. She was a longtime civic leader in the Monroe Bridge community, where she held many positions in the town including town clerk, town treasurer, Selectman's clerk and library trustee. Born in Readsboro, Vt., on Feb. 16, 1932, daughter of Giulio C. and Mary Rose Uboldi Andognini, she attended Monroe Bridge schools and graduated from Drury High School in North Adams with the class of 1949. Mrs. Simonetti was a clerk and postmaster at the Monroe Bridge post office for 20 years, retiring in 1995. Before her marriage, she worked at the former Deerfield Glassine Co. She was a communicant of St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro and a former member of its St. Ann Society. She moved to North Adams in 1997 and was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of its Rosary Society. She was a member of the North Adams Garden Club and the Mermaids Swimming Club and a volunteer at North Adams Regional Hospital. She was also the founder and past president of the Monroe Historical Society. Her husband, Henry F. Simonetti, whom she married Oct. 3, 1953, died Oct. 6, 2004. She leaves a son, Mark H. Simonetti and his wife, Robbin, of Clarksburg; a daughter, Ann Kaczenski and her husband, Keith, of Montague; a brother, Carl Andognini of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a sister, Rose Codogni of Readsboro; her granddaughter, Sara Simonetti of Clarksburg, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Another sister, Mary Creek, is deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE - A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Simonetti will be celebrated Saturday, July 30, at 11 from St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Dakin Pioneer Animal Shelter or the Monroe Historical Society in care of Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, MA 01247.
