Alice Rose Delisle, 92

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Alice Rose Delisle, 92, of North Adams died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on Sept. 17, 1921, daughter of Francis and Georgianna Haley Goodman, she graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in 1938 and from the former St. Luke's School of Nursing in Pittsfield in 1941. A Navy veteran, she served in the Nurse Corps for two years. Mrs. Delisle was the school nurse at the former Conte Middle School and later at Clarksburg Elementary School. She had worked private duty before her service and then for 24 years at the former Plunkett Memorial Hospital in Adams until it closed. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. She enjoyed traveling with her family and was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. She also loved her cat, Akosha. Her husband, Howard J. Delisle, whom she married on Nov. 27, 1948, in the former St. Francis' Church died on Oct. 14, 2002. They had enjoyed 53 years of marriage. She leaves her niece, Jacqueline Thomas, and her nephew, John Brown, whom she raised, and Jacqueline's husband, Don; a grandniece, Laura Thomas, a grandnephew, Christopher Brown, and her sister-in-law, Rose Delisle. She was predeceased by her twin sisters Frances Goodman Brown and Mary Goodman McKane. FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Delisle will be celebrated Saturday, Oct. 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Saturday morning from 9 to 10 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Conference at St. Elizabeth Church in care of the funeral home.
