Jeffrey L. Johnson Sr., 61
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Jeffrey L. Johnson Sr., 61, of Pittsfield died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 15, 1952, a son of Robert and Julia Ceasar Johnson, he attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Taconic High School, where he was a star player on the basketball and football teams.
Mr. Johnson was employed as a union construction worker with Local 473 for many years.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. He loved music and was a bass guitar player for several bands in the area. He also enjoyed fishing and drag racing.
He and his wife, the former Kim Marie Smith, were married on Aug. 27, 1983, in Pittsfield.
Besides his wife of 31 years, he leaves his two sons, Jeffrey L. Johnson Jr. and his wife, Jessica, of Williamstown and Jeremy J. Johnson and his wife, Heather, of Raleigh, N.C.; three daughters, Malinda Daly and her husband, Jason, of Pittsfield, Tristan Pearson and her husband, Paul, of Millerton, N.Y., and Candace Hescock and her husband, Mike, of North Carolina; a sister, Judy Smith of Cambridge; two brothers, Robert Johnson and John Johnson, both of Pittsfield, 10 grandchildren and many beloved nephews and a niece.
He was predeceased by a brother, James Johnson.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be celebrated at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Park Square in Pittsfield on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at Flynn & Dagnoli-Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. Memorial donations may be made to Friends of Renal Dialysis (FORD) at Berkshire Medical Center through the funeral home.
