Eldor G. Brazeau, 88

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Eldor Gerard "Pete" Brazeau, 88, formerly of Sterling Drive, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2015, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, lovingly surrounded by his family. Born in North Adams on Sept. 22, 1926, son of the Edward and Rachel Perreault Brazeau, he attended the former Notre Dame Grammar School and Drury High School. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines as a cook during the war and later in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Brazeau was employed in the food service department at Williams College, retiring as first cook in 1987. He was affectionately called Chef Pete. He had first worked for the college as a security guard, and then was manager of the former Tally House Restaurant. He was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church. He enjoyed woodworking and watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially weekly visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His wife, the former Alma Marie Bergeron, whom he married in St. Francis' Church on Sept. 2, 1946, died in 2013. He leaves his daughter, Sandra Jean Descoteau of Adams; two sisters, Roma Morris and Beatrice Bissaillon, both of North Adams; two granddaughters, Rebecca Whitaker and her companion, Chuck Gaylord, of Dalton and Lisa Odvar and her husband, John, of Adams; four great-grandchildren, Joseph and Danielle Whitaker and Cameron and Aiden Odvar, and nieces and nephews. His daughter Carol Rolnick died in 2010 and his son, James Peter Brazeau, in 1959. He was also predeceased by seven brothers, Charles, Edmond, Francis, Paul, Vincent, Raymond and Valmore Brazeau. FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mr. Brazeau will be celebrated Monday, Jan. 5, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in the Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Association through Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.

Pete was one of the nicest persons I have ever met, he mentored me at the beginning of my culinary career . he tought me more than any other. my heart is saddened by this . my thoughts and prayers to the family
