Reinee A. Breen, 86

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Reinee Agnes Breen, 86, of Saco Avenue, Old Orchard Beach, Maine, died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, in Portland, Maine, surrounded by her loving family. Born in North Adams on Dec. 6, 1928, the fourth of five daughters of Rene and Charlotte Blake Ouellette, she attended the former Holy Family School and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1947. She also received a degree from the former Bliss Business School in North Adams. Mrs. Breen and her husband, James Breen, operated the former Breen's Flowers and Gifts, while raising their family. She was head floral designer, specializing in wedding techniques. She had worked at the former JJ Newberry's as a teenager and then at the former Bright Water Paper Co. in Adams. She worked in the office at Bright Water until her engagement to Mr. Breen, the love of her life, whom she met at Daub's Pond in Clarksburg while she was a lifeguard. They became engaged soon after he returned from the South Pacific during World War II. They were married Aug. 5, 1950, in the former Holy Family Church. Mr. Breen died in 1999. They sold the business in 1995 and retired to Maine, their favorite vacation spot on the East Coast. She enjoyed knitting, tag-saling for unique antiques, having friends and family visit her, swimming, and long Sunday afternoon rides. Mrs. Breen was a fun loving, inquisitive, always positive woman with many friends who loved her very much. She will be greatly missed. She leaves four sons, Michael Breen and his wife, Valerie King, Peter Breen and his wife, Mary Ellen Zoito, John Breen and his wife, Tami Rand, and James Breen and his wife, Mary Monahan; a daughter, HollyAnn Breen Lutes and her husband, Gregory; a sister, Sharon Cote and her husband, Richard, of the state of Florida; seven grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband, Todd Catelotti, Christopher, Christian and his wife, Jennifer Johnson, Patrick, Shaleigh Reinee and her fiance, Matt Howells, Erin and her partner, Anthony Malloy, and Laurel Reinee; seven great-grandchildren, Lillyana Reinee and Adalynn John Malloy, Makenna, Weston and Wyatt Breen, and Jack and Lily Catelotti, and nieces and nephews. The greatest sadness of her life were those whom she had lost: her beloved husband, Jim; her dear son, John Breen; and her sisters, Charlotte Barcomb, Viola Willette and Gloria Mirante. FUNERAL NOTICE - A celebration of life for Mrs. Breen will be held at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, Maine, from 1 to 3 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 8.
Recollections & Sympathy For the Family
Post Comment
My most sincere condolence go out to the Breen family for their loss. I remember Mrs. Breen as a very effervescent person with a contagious smile. I fondly remember the days I worked during the holiday seasons for her and Jim, delivering flowers. She and Jim made it fun.
