Elsie I. LaPlante, 93
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Elsie Irene LaPlante, 93, of 142 Riverside Drive, died Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Sweet Brook Care Centers.
Born in North Adams on June 5, 1921, daughter of Eskiel and Hazel Brewer Olson, she attended local schools including Drury High School.
Mrs. LaPlante was employed at the former Gale Shoe Co. and then at former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co. until her retirement in 1964.
She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mercy Church and was a member of the Friendship Club of Williamstown.
Her husband, Kenneth Raymond LaPlante, whom she married on April 20, 1940, died on Sept. 7, 2012.
She leaves her daughter, Hazel Mae Nicol and her husband, James, of Avon, Conn.; a sister, Dorothy Lesure; two grandchildren, Kim Ann Goff and her husband, Brian, of Chicago and Scott Kenneth Nicol and his wife, Lynne, of Huntersville, N.C., seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Her brothers George Olson, Harold Olson and Raymond Olson predeceased her.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A private funeral for Mrs. LaPlante will be held at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will be in Southview cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
