Charlotte D. Chalfonte, 98
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Charlotte Dillon Chalfonte, 98, formerly of North Adams, died on Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Williamstown Commons, where she had resided for more than two years.
Born in North Adams on Nov. 3, 1916, daughter of Frederick and Amelia Dillon Atwood, she attended schools in North Adams.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Chalfonte had been employed at the former H.W. Clark Biscuit Co. in her early years.
She was a communicant of the former St. Francis of Assisi Church.
Her husband, Telesphore Joseph Chalfonte, died on March 10, 1974.
She leaves a son, Frederick Chalfonte and his wife, the former Diane Vallieres; three grandchildren, Barb Chalfonte and her partner, Kat Emet, of Florence, James Chalfonte of Pittsfield, and Kathleen Hunter and her husband, Jeffrey, of Southampton; seven great-grandchildren, Jenna Colleen, Arden Patrick, Liam James Chalfonte, Abigael Rose, Owen Jeffrey, Ava Elizabeth and Wyatt Grayson Hunter; three nieces, Patricia Durkee and her husband, James, of Pittsfield, Margaret Quinton of New York State, Maureen Senecal Gancarz of North Adams and Peggy Ann Atkinson, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
A brother, James Atwood, and a sister, Hazel Senecal, are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Chalfonte will be celebrated Friday, April 17, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
