Doris E. Carmain, 84
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Doris Emma Carmain, 84, of North Adams died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at North Adams Commons.
Born in North Adams on Aug. 4, 1930, daughter of Armand and Emma Chalifoux Cote, she graduated from Drury High School.
Mrs. Carmain was last employed at the former North Adams Regional Hospital for about a dozen years in its pharmacy. Before that, she worked at the former Florsheim Shoe Co.
She attended the Florida Baptist Church. She enjoyed knitting and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Her husband, Jack LaVon Carmain, whom she married on Feb. 19, 1949, died on March 26, 1986.
She leaves four sons, Bruce L. Carmain and his wife, Maggie, and David L. Carmain and his wife, Carol, all of Fayetteville, N.C., and Steven F. Carmain and his wife, Maria, and Timothy A. Carmain and his wife, Debora, all of North Adams; six grandchildren, Susan, Kimberly, Katie, Jeremiah, Daniel, and Jeffrey; seven great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Her granddaughter Jennifer Carmain and brothers Lawrence Cote and Edward Cote are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Carmain will be Monday, July 20, at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held Monday morning from 10 to 11. Flowers may be sent.
