Edward L. Cote, 76
FLORIDA, Mass. - Edward Louis Cote, 76, of 69 Moores Road died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in North Adams on Feb. 17, 1935, son of Armand and Emma Chalifoux Cote, he attended Florida schools and Drury High School in North Adams.
He was a veteran of the Air Force.
Mr. Cote was a member of the Local 473 Laborers Union for 30 years and last worked at Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Plant. He also operated Cote's 9C Farm on Florida Mountain, where he raised turnips.
He was a member of the Florida Volunteer Fire Department and served as a constable for the town. He enjoyed music and gardening.
His wife, the former Joyce Anne Burdick, whom he married Dec. 24, 1956, died on Jan. 5, 2006.
He leaves a daughter, Debra Sarkis of Rutherfordton, N.C.; four sons, Kenneth Cote of Eagle River, Ark., Russell Cote of North Adams and Lawrence Cote and James Cote, both of the town of Florida; a sister, Doris Carmain of North Adams; 25 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Three sons predeceased him, Leonard Cote, Donald Rene Cote and Timothy Cote, and a brother, Lawrence Cote.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mr. Cote will be Wednesday morning, May 4, at 11 at the Florida Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Florida Church Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, May 3, from 4 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to the Florida Volunteer Fire Department in care of the funeral home.
