Richard M. Davine, 77

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Richard Michael Davine, 77, of 1474 South Church St. died Saturday evening, Nov. 17, 2001, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Rutland, Vt., on Dec. 17, 1923, son of Robert and Mary Clifford Davine, he graduated from Rutland High School in 1943. He moved to North Adams in 1950. Mr. Davine was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in the Sprague Products division for 38 years, retiring in 1985. He also worked part time at the former Green Mountain Race Track in Pownal, Vt., for 30 years and at the former Fischlein's Market. He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club. During the 1960s, he was chairman of former Mayor Louis Diamond's mayoral campaign and served as a member of the North Adams Planning Board. He leaves his wife, the former Barbara Eldridge, whom he married Aug. 16, 1944; two sons, Michael E. Davine and Terry R. Davine, both of North Adams; two daughters, Diana L. Davine of Lanesborough and Adriene A. Davine of North Adams; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Davine will be Wednesday at 11 at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams. Final disposition will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 5 to 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory be made to the Northern Berkshire United Way Inc. through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
