Earl Williams Jr., 57
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Earl Franklin "Rusty" Williams Jr., 57, of 26 Montgomery St. died Monday, March 18, 2002, at New England Medical Center in Boston.
Born in North Adams on March 14, 1945, son of Earl Franklin Williams Sr. and Edna Reardon Williams of Clarksburg, he resided in Clarksburg as a child and attended the former St. Joseph's Parochial Grammar School. He graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in 1962.
He enlisted in the Navy on March 13, 1963, and served on the USS Hunley, stationed in Holly Lock, Scotland, during the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal.
Mr. Williams was employed by Massachusetts Electric Co. for 31 years until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed caring for cats. He also enjoyed spending time in his garden and bowling, participating in several leagues at the Mount Greylock Bowl.
Besides his parents, he leaves his wife, the former Gladys Newell, whom he married Sept. 14, 1968, in North Adams; a daughter, Traci Lyn Williams of Newton; a son, Brent B. Williams of Charlotte, N.C., and a sister, Carol Hayes of Adams, and his six cats.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services will take place Friday at 11 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
