Janet L. Beaman, 86
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Janet Lamont Beaman, 86, of 11 Michael Drive died Monday, April 29, 2002, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 9, 1916, daughter of Alfred V. and Annie Lamont Houston Anderson, she was a 1933 pro merito graduate of Pittsfield High School. She also graduated from the former Berkshire Business College.
Mrs. Beaman was employed as a secretary at New England Mutual Life Insurance Co. from 1933 to 1938. In 1967, she became employed as bookkeeper/secretary for the former Williams Sewing Center, retiring in 1977.
She performed volunteer work as a personal secretary to two ministers at First United Methodist Church, of which she was a lifelong member. She was also a member of the church choir for many years and a member and past chief daughter of Purple Heather Lodge, Daughters of Scotia.
Her husband, Paul C. Beaman Sr., former composing room foreman at The Berkshire Eagle, died July 12, 2001. They were married Aug. 13, 1938.
She leaves a daughter, Beverly J. Bartley of Pittsfield; two sons, Bruce C. Beaman of East Bridgewater and Paul C. Beaman Jr. of Torrington, Conn.; two brothers, Alfred Anderson of Pittsfield and James Anderson of Vero Beach, Fla.; a sister, Catherine Lasher of North Adams; seven grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral will be conducted Wednesday at 2 at First United Methodist Church, Pittsfield, by the Rev. Roger Davis. Burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the First United Methodist Church Organ Fund in Mrs. Beaman's memory. WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, 01201, is in charge of arrangements.
