Catherine Lasher, 94

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Catherine Lasher, 94, of 85 Eagle St., St. Joseph's Court, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at North Adams Commons Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 26, 1917, a daughter of Alfred and Annie Houston Anderson, she attended schools in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School. She also graduated from Bliss Business College. Mrs. Lasher was a devoted wife, loving mother and homemaker. After she raised her family, she became a bookkeeper, then teller at the former First Agricultural Bank in North Adams until her retirement in 1975. She was a member of the former Houghton School Parent-Teacher Group and an active member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed dancing and traveling throughout the nation and Canada with her husband, Carl. They also loved spending 14 winters in Myrtle Beach, S.C., after their retirement. She was also an expert seamstress and crocheter. Her husband, Carlton G. Lasher, whom she married on Sept. 3, 1937, died on Aug. 15, 1999. She leaves a daughter, Barbara A. Noyes of Adams; three sons, William A. Lasher and his wife, Joanna, of Galway, N.Y., Kenneth W. Lasher and his wife, Mary, of Mesa, Ariz., and Thomas J. Lasher of North Adams; six grandchildren, Shaun Rivers of Queensbury, N.Y., Sara Dupras of Tujunga, Calif., Susan Rivers of Pittsfield, Melissa Mott of Holden, Tarrence Lasher of Cobleskill, N.Y., and Christine Buchanan of Lake View Terrace, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. In her later years, she looked forward to visits with her 12 great-grandchildren whom she adored: Emily, Caitlin, Connor and Ella Mott; Hannah, Emily and Samuel Lasher; Jason and Jamie Dupras; Jonathan Rivers; and Nicholas Buchanan and Thane Adams. She was predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth "Betty" Lively; her son Carlton G. Lasher Jr.; her grandson Jason Lasher; and her siblings Janet Beaman and Alfred Sydney Anderson, both late of Pittsfield, and James Anderson, late of the state of Florida. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Lasher will be Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will be in the family lot in Southview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 2 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff of North Adams Commons for their care of Mrs. Lasher.
