John B. Mancini

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — John Burton Mancini, 73, of 59 Chase Ave. died Monday evening, May 27, 2002, at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in North Adams on Feb. 24, 1929, son of John Lucien Mancini and Margaret H. Drake Mancini Brisson, he attended schools there, including Drury High School. He served with the Massachusetts National Guard in North Adams from 1950 to 1961. Mr. Mancini was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 48 years, retiring in 1984. He also worked for the Pinkerton Security Agency at the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown for more than 20 years, also retiring from there in 1984. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club and Sprague Retirees. He enjoyed gardening, painting and carpentry. He leaves his wife, the former Dorothy Regina Duquette, whom he married June 10, 1950, in Notre Dame Church; a son, Mark J. Mancini of North Adams; a sister, Darlene Mancini of North Adams; three brothers, William C. Mancini of North Hollywood, Calif., and Bruce Mancini and Craig Mancini, both of North Adams, a granddaughter and his stepmother, Francesca Mancini. He was predeceased by his sister Jean Mancini Burnell and by his brother Robert E. "Tiny" Mancini, on July 13, 1980. FUNERAL NOTICE — Services will take place Friday, May 31, at 9:30 at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Parish Center. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours for family are Thursday, May 30, from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Omission of flowers is requested; any donations are suggested for the Katie Lynn Mancini Education Fund through the funeral home.
