Lawrence LaBombard, 73
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Lawrence W. LaBombard, 73, of 46 Washington Ave. died Thursday morning, June 20, 2002, at home after a long illness.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 11, 1928, son of Wilfred L. and Marion Walden LaBombard, he attended North Adams schools.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1947 to 1952 as a private first class and certified medical technician. He administered vaccines to military personnel shipping overseas in the United States and in the Pacific aboard the 215th Hospital Ship USAT Hope.
Mr. LaBombard was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for many years, retiring in 1990. He then was employed part time with the North Adams Transcript.
He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and a member of the Hairpin Turners Square Dancing Club. He was a former member of Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion. He enjoyed line dancing and sports, and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
He and his wife, the former Lucille Foote, were married in October 1956.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Susan Lynn Mossolani and Jane K. Perras, both of North Adams; a son, James M. Petrovice of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Marianne Smith and Sally Lapine, both of North Adams; two brothers, Robert J. LaBombard of North Adams and Martin H. LaBombard of Housatonic; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Marony.
FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Saturday, at 8 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow with military honors in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
