Robert J. Monette, 62
GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. - Robert Joseph Monette, 62, of 485 Main St. died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at Fairview Hospital.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 14, 1938, son of Julien and Doris Shartrand Monette, he attended North Adams schools. He had resided in Adams for many years and in Pittsfield for several years before moving to Great Barrington in 1986.
Mr. Monette was employed by General Electric Co. in the power transformer division in Pittsfield for 33 years, retiring in 1995. He had also worked for the Stokes family in Great Barrington.
He attended St. Peter's Church and was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. He was also a member of the Greylock Community Club in North Adams.
He leaves his longtime companion, Florence Tisserand, with whom he resided; a son, Robert J. Monette Jr. of Adams; five daughters, Linda Sirois, Donna McIntosh, Lisa Cooney and Michele Carlow, all of Adams, and Diane Giroux of Rawlings, Wyo.; two brothers, Julien Monette of Portland, Ore., and Raymond Monette of North Adams; two sisters, Anita Gibeau of Clarksburg and Lucille Crawford of North Adams; 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Beckwith and Anthony Monette.
A grandson, Scott Monette, died Feb. 15, 1999, and a brother, Armand Monette, died Feb. 22, 1969.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Requiem Eucharist at 10 a.m. in St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Jane R. Dunning, interim rector. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams, at a later date.
Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or to the American Heart Association through the funeral home.
