Alden S. Jones Jr., 68

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Alden S. Jones Jr., 68, of 33 Wheeler Ave. died Monday morning, April 21, 2003, at home. Born in North Adams on Aug. 12, 1934, son of Alden S. Jones Sr. and Anna Belle McGinnis Jones, he attended local schools. Mr. Jones was employed in construction. He worked for several area firms and was last employed by Unistress Corp. in Pittsfield. He was a member and newly elected trustee of Stamford (Vt.) Community Church. He also was a member of the Lions Club, Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 310, the Mohawk Sportsman Club, and the Lafayette Greylock AF & AM Masonic Temple, all in North Adams. He was a Celtics, Red Sox and Patriots fan, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also had served as the constable for the town of Clarksburg for several years and was a former volunteer for the Clarksburg Ambulance Service. He leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Cronin, whom he married Dec. 7, 2002, in Stamford Community Church; three sons, Alden S. Jones III, Foster C. Jones and Ronny A. Jones, all of North Adams; two daughters, Jean Harris of Niceville, Fla., and Bonnie Reynolds of Fort Myers, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Deborah Houghtaling of Rowe and Sharron Nickerson of Milford, N.H.; two stepsons, Michael Jones of Merrimac and Norman G. Rolnick of Adams; two sisters, Patricia L. Tomkiewicz and Gail M. Dix, both of North Adams; three brothers, Charles T. Jones of Alton Bay, N.H., Richard C. Jones and Lawrence E. Jones, both of North Adams; 10 grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five stepgreat-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Jones, in infancy, and his sister and brother Priscilla Gaspardi Marchegiani and Donald E. Jones. FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Alden S. Jones Jr. will be conducted Thursday at 11 at Stamford (Vt.) Community Church by the Rev. William Wilson. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. Memorial donations are suggested for Stamford Community Church or the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
