Ralph L. Lavigne, 62
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Ralph Louis Lavigne, 62, of 4 Walker St., died Thursday, June 19, 2003, at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was admitted on June 8.
Born in North Adams on July 4, 1940, son of Antoinette M. Trisorio Lavigne Rosse and the late Ralph L. Lavigne, he attended local schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1958.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Mr. Lavigne was firefighter with the Pittsfield Fire Department, until his retirement in 1988. Before that, he was a firefighter with the city of North Adams. When he was younger, he worked as a carpenter for several area contractors.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a fan of the New York Yankees.
Besides his mother, he leaves his wife, the former Constance C. Sprague, whom he married on May 24, 1986; one son, Anthony L. Lavigne of North Adams; two stepsons, Frank F. Bird of Clarksburg and Frederick John Bird of Adams; two sisters, Linda Kavee of Briarcliff, N.Y., and Marianne Schieffer of Stevens Point, Wis., and six stepgrandchildren, Aaron, Matthew and Tanner Bird of Adams, and Ryan, Nolan and Hayden Bird of Clarksburg; an uncle, Michael Trisorio of Clarksburg, and nieces and nephews.
A stepdaughter, Cynthia A. Palumbo, died June 17, 1991.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Lavigne will be Tuesday at 9:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. Funeral Mass at 10:30 at St. Anthony's Church Parish Center, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 5 to 8. Donations in memory of Mr. Lavigne may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.
