Constance C. Lavigne, 77

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Constance C. Bird Palumbo Lavigne, 77, of 4 Walker St. died on Nov. 19, 2014, at North Adams Commons surrounded by her loving family. Born in Williamstown on Dec. 30, 1936, a daughter of Edwin and Birdine Larabee Sprague, and stepdaughter of Viola Byron Greenlaw Strack Sprague, she attended schools in Williamstown and graduated from the former Dalton High School. Mrs. Lavigne was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. and later at the family franchises of Subway in Williamstown and North Adams. Her husband, Ralph Louis Lavigne, whom she married on May 24, 1986, died on June 19, 2003. A devoted mother and grandmother, she was a member of First Baptist Church and of George L. Curran VFW Post 996 Ladies Auxiliary. She also had been a cancer survivor and participated in the Northern Berkshire Relay for Life. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with family and was a full-time fan, supporting all of her grandsons sporting events. She leaves two sons, F. John Bird Jr. of Adams and Frank Bird and his wife, Terri, of Clarksburg; four sisters, Nancy Bernier, Rose Malloy, Sandra Nolan and Judith Brazee; two stepbrothers, John Strack and Horace Greenlaw; six grandchildren, Aaron Bird, Ryan Bird, Matthew Bird, Tanner Bird, Nolan Bird and Hayden Bird; her longtime friends Betty Belding and Courtney Bussiere, and many nieces, nephews and long time friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Ann Palumbo; her daughter-in-law Sally Bird; her longtime companion, Frank "Coach" Nolan; her sisterDonna Sprague Czarnecki and stepsistersVina Greenlaw Ferris and Jean Strack Morgan; her brothers, Edwin Sprague Jr. and Kenneth Sprague, and stepbrothers Harry Greenlaw and Frederick Greenlaw. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Lavigne will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at First Baptist Church in North Adams at 11 a.m. with burial to follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, Nov. 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Donations may be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 996 through the funeral home. Mrs. Lavigne's family would like to thank the staff at North Adams Commons for all the support that was given in this very difficult time. The love and amazing care will always be appreciated and never forgotten.
