Elizabeth Simon, 81
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Elizabeth "Sobet" Simon, 81, of 335 State St. died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 15, 2004, at home after a nine-month illness.
Born in Kfarsghab, Lebanon, on Sept. 1, 1923, daughter of Mansour and Lilly Williams Haddad, she came to the United States in 1947.
A homemaker, Mrs. Simon was a communicant of St. Francis' Church.
She and her husband, Frederick S. Simon, were married Nov. 23, 1947, in Kfarsghab.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Darlene Fairs and Lori Rickert and her husband, David, all of North Adams; a son, Stephen Allen Simon of Bethlehem, Pa.; three sisters, Nadeema Kostopoulous, Juliet Simon and Theresa Haddad, all of Sydney, Australia; four brothers, Deab Haddad, Phillip Haddad, Louis Haddad and Maurice Haddad, also all of Sydney, and six grandchildren, Kerry Fairs of Sydney, Australia, James Fairs of Albany, N.Y., Daniel Rickert and Julie Rickert of North Adams, Sabeth Simon of Bath, Pa., and Tracy Kelly and her husband, James Kelly, of North Attleboro.
She was predeceased by sisters and brothers Rose, Nahila, Labiba, Saliba and John Haddad.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Simon will be Saturday, Sept. 18, at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis' Church.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday, Sept. 17, from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
