Rita O. Marino, 84

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rita O. Marino, 84, of 20 Elder Ave. died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in Fitchburg on July 16, 1920, daughter of Michael and Lucy Mancuso Gigliotti, she attended schools there until moving to North Adams. She was a 1937 graduate of Drury High School. Mrs. Marino was employed by the former Pierpan Insurance Agency and its successor, Coakley Pierpan Dolan & Collins Insurance Agency Inc., until her retirement as office manager. In her younger years, she worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and, during World War II, at the former Hunter Machine Co. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church, and a former member of its choir and of the former Children of Mary Sodality. She also was a longtime volunteer for the North Adams Cancer Crusade, serving as chairman of the annual house-to-house fundraising campaign from 1956 to 1965. She enjoyed reading. She was a devoted homemaker for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildlren. She and her husband, Joseph C. Marino, would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary Sept. 20. They were married in St. Anthony's Church. Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Ozias "Chuck" Vincelette of Pittsfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph C. Marino Jr. and Sallie Ann Marino of Fairfax, Va.; a brother, Jack Gigliotti of North Adams; a sister, Dorothy Wilhelm of Pittsfield; five grandchildren, Eric Vincelette of Lenox, Marc Vincelette of Pittsfield, Army Cpl. Demetrius Marino, Adriel Marino of Fairfax and Jermyn Marino of Alexandria, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Oliver, Trinity, Raven and Ayla, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mrs. Marino will be Saturday, July 16, at 10:15 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 64 Marshall St., celebrated by the Rev Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. A calling hour will be held will be Saturday morning for one hour before the funeral the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the St. Anthony Capital Campaign Fund through the funeral home.
