Charles H. Dixon, 85
ADAMS, Mass. — Charles Henry Dixon, 85, of 145 Bellevue Ave. died Tuesday at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Adams on Dec. 29, 1919, son of Robert and Elizabeth Todt Dixon, he was a 1939 graduate of the former Adams High School.
An Air Force veteran of World War II, he flew 34 missions with the 100th Bomber Group in Europe. During the Korean War, he was stationed in the Far East, and he also completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired with 30 years of service.
Mr. Dixon also worked for several years as an operator for the Adams Wastewater Treatment Plant.
He was a member of First Congregational Church.
He and his wife, the former Doreen M. O'Malley, were married Feb. 9, 1957.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Christopher O. Dixon of Bryn Mawr, Pa., and a brother, Robert Dixon, of Adams; and in-laws and nieces and nephews in the United States and England.
He was predeceased by a brother, David Dixon, and by a sister, Jean Wilson.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Dixon will be Saturday Aug. 27, at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, with a service at First Congregational Church of Adams at 10 conducted by the Rev. Michael Mullany, pastor.
The family requests the omission of flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association or the Fisher House Foundation Inc., which provides a place to stay for families with loved ones in a veterans' hospital, through the funeral home.
