Robert Dixon Jr., 93
ADAMS, Mass. — Robert Dixon Jr., 93, of 52 Leonard St., died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at North Adams Commons.
Born in Adams on Aug. 9, 1918, a son of Robert and Elizabeth Todt Dixon, he attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School in 1937.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the 76th Division and the 385th Infantry Division until receiving his honorable discharge on July 1, 1945.
Mr. Dixon was employed by the former General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 17 years as a toolmaker and methods engineer. He also worked for the former New England Telephone Co., for four years, then went to work for the former Pfizer Co. in Adams, for 23 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a longtime member of First Congregational Church of Adams, and was a member of the Berkshire Lodge of Masons and Adams Post 160 American Legion.
His wife, the former Rena White, whom he married on Jan. 30, 1941, died on Feb. 2, 1994.
He leaves his daughter and her husband, Donna and Richard Collings of Adams; his granddaughter, Danene Campbell; two great-grandsons, Chad and Collin Campbell, and his longtime companion, Rolande Trottier.
He was predeceased by two brothers, David Dixon and Charles Dixon, and by his sister, Jean Wilson.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services and burial for Mr. Dixon will be private at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Paciorek Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, is in charge of arrangements.
