Francis D. Dickinson, 78
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Francis Donald Dickinson, 78, of 767 Reservoir Road died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 10, 1926, son of Alfred and Ellen Dubie Dickinson, he attended schools there and in the town of Florida.
A Navy veterans of World War II, he served as a seaman.
Mr. Dickinson was employed by the Massachusetts Highway Department for 37 years, retiring in 1986. Before that, he worked for the former Strong-Hewat Woolen Mills in Clarksburg, the former Sprague Electric and the former Boston & Albany Railroad.
He was a member of Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion.
He and his wife, the former Dorothy Hubbard, were married July 2, 1949, at First Baptist Church in Schenectady, N.Y.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Nancy Catrambone and her husband, Joseph, of North Adams; a sister, Ellen DePaoli of North Adams; two brothers, Alfred Dickinson and David Dickinson, both of North Adams; two grandchildren, David Michael Catrambone, and his wife, Ellyn, and Debra Jean Catrambone, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Edmond, Louis and Robert Dickinson.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Graveside services with military honors for Mr. Dickinson will take place at the family plot in Southview Cemetery on Friday at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Joseph DeCosta, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
